Helping Families Move Up
Our goal is to help every working family build financial stability and empowerment. We believe the best way to support vulnerable families before they fall into poverty is to proactively equip all Californians with the critical tools, resources, and access to financial empowerment programs they need to, not just survive, but thrive. We do this by:
- Connecting eligible Californians to access life-changing tax credits through free tax filing assistance programs.
- Providing financial education tools that empower community members to gain new skills, access resources, and build confidence as they work toward their financial goals.
- Working with community partners on education and outreach initiatives to provide at-risk families with financial stability that can reduce adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
- Creating streamlined pathways for Californians to learn about and access public benefits programs.
- Keeping vulnerable Californians safely housed through rent relief and eviction protection programs.
Beyond coordinating and implementing education and outreach programs with our local partners across the state, United Ways of California’s policy team advocates at a statewide level to create expanded funding and infrastructure for life-changing financial empowerment programs.
