Here, we will discuss common priorities, share learnings, and identify opportunities for collaboration as we start a new year. Please note this gathering is exclusive to California United Way CEOs only with support by United Ways of California staff. Preliminary agenda items include:
- A networking dinner on the evening of February 21;
- A group conversation on revenue trends and diversification opportunities;
- An organizational development and capacity building session;
- Our boards and equity: a discussion of how CEOs are engaging their boards to support an equity lens;
- Shared advocacy priorities in the 2024 election cycle and;
- Branding and marketing: details about the new branding and marketing tools and discussion about ways to use it effectively.

Yes, this gathering is exclusive to California United Way CEOs. Every two years, United Ways of California hosts a Western Regional Conference. When the Western Regional takes place, such as in 2024, a smaller CEO gathering is usually scheduled early the same year to help local United Ways send staff and board members to attend the larger Western Regional Conference which provides more robust learning and professional development opportunities.
In the year where the Western Regional Conference does not take place, a larger state association meeting is usually scheduled where CEOs, board members, and staff are all invited to attend.
In November 2023, United Way Worldwide announced that the United Way flex credit program will expire on December 31, 2023, and be replaced with a network investment in enriched and relevant curriculum that is accessible and affordable to all United Ways across the network. This means that current outstanding flex credit balances will no longer be eligible to be redeemed by United Way Worldwide for state meetings, regional conferences, or other United Way supported events.
