Dan Beeby is the Director of Data Systems at United Ways of California. Dan loves to tinker with technology. Back as the mid-90s (as a language instructor in the Peace Corps in Lithuania) Dan used web technologies like HTML to teach English and broaden his students’ perspectives. He continued to work in higher-education for nearly two decades (at Haverford College and Columbia University) where he focused on the purposeful use of technology in the classroom. In 2015 Dan left academia to found Benefit Kitchen, an award-winning Brooklyn-based startup, which helps low-income Americans connect with $80B in unclaimed benefits and improve health outcomes. As the Director of Data Systems, he applies technical solutions to improve efficiency at United Ways of California. When Dan isn’t solving the world’s problems with technology, you’ll likely find him riding a gigantic cargo bike (with his kids in the back) or sailing his 16’ Hobie Cat.
