Kim Payne is the Associate Director of Human Resources at United Ways of California. She was born in Seoul, Korea where she was adopted by her father, a Technical Sergeant (TSgt) in the US Air Force and lived in Okinawa, Japan and Wiesbaden, Germany before he retired in Sacramento, CA. After graduating from high school, she followed in her father’s footsteps and enlisted in the Air Force where she became a Military Personnel Technician. Through the Air Force, she also had the opportunity to live in Torrejon/Madrid, Spain and throughout the states.

Kim comes to the United Ways of California after working at the Gary Sinise Foundation for 8 years as their Director of Human Resources and the Department of Defense, Air Force and Army for over 15 years as a Human Resource Specialist in Classification & Staffing and Employee Development. She holds her MBA in Human Resources Management and so far, has enjoyed 30 years of helping non-profit and for-profit organizations develop their human capital. Over her career as a human resource professional, she has thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of position classification, recruitment, training and development, performance management, DEI, benefits, compensation, mentoring, and so much more.
